The history of chefs’ dates back to ancient times where the royal palaces need cooks to feed the royal family, guests and so many other people who work and guard the palace. Those days there were no standards or and rules to be followed about the dress code of the cooks as they work in the kitchen. All that is required is that they have to be clean and tidy.

As the years came by this cooking spree started to turn into a profession, or a family profession or sometimes a hobby. As the worlds got closer and closer and closer these cooks learnt more and more about new recipes of different countries and thus became professional chef. There are many institutes that teach professional cooking these days.

One of the most important things that are thought is about cleanliness in the kitchen and in oneself. They are taught how to look clean, tidy and to be in the best fit. Talking about the dress code of the chefs the chef shoes is the most important part of the dress code.

In the ancient times chefs or rather the cooks used to wear simple sandals, slippers or shoes made by themselves or be a local cobblers. Some times in some countries the cooks are not suppose to be bare foot in the kitchen as it is their custom. Being bare food or wearing untidy shoes in the kitchen can be slippery as the kitchen floor is greasy and may even cause infection that may even spread in the food.
